Business Intern
This is a Full Time Seasonal Position.
Contract dates are May 15 – August 15 and the work schedule is Monday-Thursday, 8am-5pm (36 hours/week).
Job Duties
The Business Internship at Wilderness Adventures offers a unique opportunity to learn about business management in the context of adventure tourism and will report to the Director of Finance.
MARKET RESEARCH
- Conduct a market analysis of the adventure tourism sector, focusing on competition and market positioning.
- Review pricing strategies and analyze their effectiveness, proposing improvements where necessary.
- Shadow and observe the Director of Programs to gain insight into day-to-day business operations.
- Develop a business SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) for Wilderness Adventures.
OPERATIONS ASSISTANCE
- Provide logistical support to trips in the Jackson area, including gear assistance, vehicle shuttles and emergency support.
- Reserve in-person first-come-first-serve campsites in the Jackson area.
- Receive visitors in the Jackson office, directing the flow of people and managing distractions for the rest of the team.
- Any additional duties as assigned by the Director of Finance or any other member of the WA Leadership Team.
Skills & Qualifications
- Exceptional organizational skills with a strong focus on attention to detail.
- Background in business or a related field of study.
- A team player with excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of Wilderness Adventures.
- Positive attitude and ability to see where support is needed and supply that support even when it is outside of the boundaries of this job description.
- Willingness to learn, grow, and evolve with the organization.
- Passion for the mission and values of Wilderness Adventures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including spreadsheets and reporting tools, database management, typing, and data entry skills.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Requirements & Work Environment
- Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit; and frequently required to stand and walk.
- Physical demands related to travel.
- This job frequently requires lifting or moving heavy gear up to 75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
Salary, Schedule, & Benefits
- $18/hr
- Monday – Thursday, 8am – 5pm (36 hours/week)
