The Teton Crest program consists of an epic 35 mile backpacking trip along the Teton Crest Trail in Grand Teton National Park. Complete the adventure with a day of whitewater kayaking and a fly fishing clinic!
Flying into Jackson Hole you’ll see unmatched views of the Tetons from the air, allowing the adventure to begin before you even touch down! Once you arrive in Jackson Hole, you will meet your trip leaders and the rest of your group at the airport. Your first campground is a quick drive from the airport. Upon arrival, you’ll learn how to set-up your tent, familiarize yourself with your new surroundings, play lots of group games, and get to know your trip mates. The next day, you will meal plan, grocery shop, and pick-up any last minute necessities before heading to the backcountry.
Your backpacking adventure will begin on the east side of the Tetons in Grand Teton National Park. Your group will continue along the spine of the Tetons on the famous Teton Crest Trail. In the beginning, your hiking days will be shorter, allowing you plenty of time to get comfortable practicing all the skills necessary to live comfortably outside. By the end of the backpack (~35 miles), you will be an expert at backcountry cooking, Leave No Trace principles, and navigation. There will be one layover day so you can rest your legs and enjoy the breathtaking wilderness. At the end of the spectacular adventure, you will have memories to last a lifetime of stories told around the campfire, what it’s like to sleep under the Teton stars, and lifelong friendship with a fantastic group.
You may be done backpacking, but the trip is not over yet! You’ll spend the next couple of days on the river, learning how to fly fish and conquering the rapids of the Snake River Canyon on inflatable kayaks.
You will spend the final days of your program cleaning gear, celebrating your accomplishments, and soaking in your final full day together as a group. Goodbyes are always hard, but we know we will see you again down the trail!
My favorite part of my WA trip was how involved the leaders were in every activity! They were just as excited and involved as the students were!
