About Wilderness Adventures

For over 50 years, Wilderness Adventures has inspired growth and wonder in young people through small-group, outdoor adventure programs across the globe. With a mission to “Do Something Wild,” our programs foster community, leadership, and connection to the natural world. Our year-round leadership team drives this mission by supporting families, staff, and students throughout the enrollment cycle and summer season.

Wilderness Adventures operates a variety of program areas that extend our mission beyond adventure travel:

  • Base Camp (Jackson, WY): Day camp for K-8th graders designed to capture the magic of summer in the Tetons. Campers dive into a full schedule of activities including arts and crafts, ropes course challenges, hikes, archery, and field games.
  • MOLA (Missoula, MT): Day camp for K-10th graders featuring adventures like rock climbing, whitewater rafting, and biking.
  • Camp New Fork (Cora, WY): Residential summer camp experience for 2nd-8th graders offering a week of camp traditions, hikes, water activities, and more in the Wind River Range.
  • The Wilderness Adventures Foundation (WAF): A nonprofit branch founded on the premise that socioeconomic circumstances should never impede a child from having a Wilderness Adventures experience.
  • Custom Programming: Tailored outdoor education programs for schools, organizations, and partners, blending adventure, leadership, and experiential learning.

Position Overview

Employment Type: Full-Time, Year-Round

Location: Jackson, WY or Remote

Manager: Director of Marketing and Sales

We are seeking a motivated self-starter to join our year-round leadership team. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is highly efficient and organized, and can juggle many priorities at once. They must be a confident salesperson, comfortable picking up the phone, having meaningful and sometimes difficult conversations with parents, and guiding families to find the right program for their child.

In addition to enrollment and sales, this individual will support all facets of Wilderness Adventures operations, from logistics to staffing, to summer camp support (MOLA, Base Camp, Camp New Fork), to the Wilderness Adventures Foundation. We are looking for a true team player – someone who will eagerly jump in wherever needed, whether that’s managing big-picture projects or rolling up their sleeves for the detailed work that keeps the organization running smoothly. The shift in duties (from sales to a more operations-focused job) is significant as we move from the sales season (August through May) to summer operations.

During the summer, this team member will be part of the on-call risk management team, which requires composure, clear communication, and problem-solving in high-stress situations.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Drive student enrollment by confidently and empathetically engaging families, primarily over the phone and email, utilizing Hubspot for organization and tracking of leads.
  • Manage sales pipeline with efficiency and attention to detail, consistently meeting and exceeding goals.
  • Navigate difficult conversations with parents during both the enrollment process and while trips are in the field.
  • Provide support to all operational areas of the business, including logistics, staffing, Camp New Fork, Base Camp, MOLA, and the Wilderness Adventures Foundation.
  • Willingly take on a wide range of tasks, large and small, demonstrating consistent teamwork.
  • Participate in risk management planning and serve on the summer on-call risk management team. This requires overnight coverage (when the office is closed) to manage any incidents, concerns, or issues that arise.
  • Balance multiple priorities and projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality, organization, and timeliness.
  • Represent Wilderness Adventures at events, presentations, and family meetings as needed.

  • Proven success in sales or client-facing roles, with strong phone, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • A motivated self-starter who is efficient, detail-oriented, and thrives on juggling multiple responsibilities.
  • Team-oriented attitude with a willingness to pitch in on projects of all sizes.
  • Comfortable navigating tough conversations with clarity and empathy.
  • Passion for outdoor education and the mission of Wilderness Adventures.
  • Prior outdoor guiding, camp, or youth program experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with CRMs or enrollment systems like Hubspot and CampMinder is a plus.

Schedule & Commitment

  • September–April: Regular full-time office schedule, typically Monday – Friday from 8am-5pm MST. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required to support events or off season programming. Sales, marketing and enrollment duties will be the primary focus of this period.
  • May–August: Extended hours with your flexibility required. Team members receive 2 days off each week, but those days will not be Saturday and Sunday. Hours vary to provide office coverage from 7am-6pm with on-call, overnight coverage required at least once weekly. Extended hours and days required during staff training and staff wrap up (the bookends of the summer). Logistics, summer operations, and marketing and enrollment launch will be the primary focus of this period.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Generous time off available during the non-summer months.
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • The opportunity to be part of a mission-driven team creating life-changing experiences for young people.
