What To Do At Yellowstone

By Wilderness Adventures September 11, 2014

Yellowstone National Park is one of the most beautiful and must see places in the United States. With its natural wonders like Old Faithful and Mammoth Hot Springs, it bodes not only spectacular views, but also gorgeous waterfalls and lush forests alike. However, many visitors are not fully aware of the park’s hidden, and less-frequented, gems.

Here are just a few things you should do when visiting Yellowstone National Park:

Yellowstone Lake- This is the park’s largest body of water, and is frequently visited by boaters and anglers, however, this lake is home to grizzly bears, bison, and bald eagles.

Grand Prismatic Spring- The largest hot spring in the United States, that offers a spectacular show of rainbow colored waters.

Old Faithful- The most popular geyser in Yellowstone National Park erupts every hour and a half, and its eruptions average around 130 feet high. Although this is not the largest geyser, it is the most frequently visited.

Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone- One of the most popular hiking areas in Yellowstone National Park, this canyon offers 20 miles of red rock cliffs and several lookout points, and is home to the largest undammed river in the United States.

Mount Washburn- One of the largest peaks in the Yellowstone National park offers serious hikers with stunning views from its top, at 10,000 feet above the park.

Hayden Valley- This lush valley, which is situated just s few miles north of Yellowstone Lake, offers visitors views, geysers, springs, and a variety of wildlife.

Lower Geyser Basin- Lower Geyser Basin offers visitors with these very different geysers, which are filled with mud, not water, and are located in a more secluded area of the park than the other more popular geysers.

If you have the chance to make a trip to Yellowstone National Park, you will not be disappointed.
