Our Yellowstone

By wpdev April 7, 2011

No one knows Yellowstone National Park better than we do here at Wilderness Ventures. In 1973 we became the first program of our kind by leading a group of ten students through Yellowstone, the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Northwest.  This pioneering season inspired Helen and I to relocate and raise our family here in Jackson Hole on the southern end of Yellowstone National Park.

Since our first eight-week adventure 39 years ago, we have fostered a strong connection with the ecosystems and environments in and around Yellowstone. Today, we are proud to be the only teen adventure program with federal authorization to lead sea kayaking, bicycling and backpacking experiences within Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Additionally, our unique permitted access to the all eight federally-protected wilderness environments that surround the park’s borders (a 13 million-acre ecosystem) affords us the opportunity to offer each student an adventure experience which is unprecedented in its scope and quality.

Today we offer eight magnificent programs of two to three weeks, each tailored for the age of your child.  All of these wondrous adventures assume no prior knowlege or experience and are designed to inspire a lifelong love for the outdoors:

Yellowstone Teton Explorer (16 days for students finishing 6th)

Yellowstone (16 days for students finishing the 7th and 8th grades)

Jackson Hole (22 days for students finishing the 7th and 8th grades)

Grand Teton (22 days for students finishing the 9th grade and up)

Great Divide (22 days for students finishing the 9th grade and up)

Yellowstone Teton (16 days for students finishing 9th grade and up)

Yellowstone Fly Fishing (16 days for students finishing 8th grade and up)

Yellowstone Teton Service (22 days for students finishing 9th grade and up)
