Work at Wilderness Adventures
Join the WA community as a Trip Leader. Our Trip Leaders are the backbone of our programming. They bring the fun and are a mentor, a wilderness guide, a risk mitigator, and a role model, all in one.

Field Positions
Our seasonal field staff are the backbone of our organization. They are the teachers, the risk managers, the guides, and the magic makers. We seek to hire highly motivated, flexible, hard-working individuals who have a passion for youth development and celebrating the natural world. Our Trip Leaders are the driving force behind our mission to inspire growth and wonder and Do Something Wild.
As a Wilderness Adventures employee, you will emphasize our core values of Community, Leadership, and Natural World while participating in activities like backpacking, kayaking, rafting, sailing, mountaineering, and more! You need not be an expert in any of these areas as your personality and drive will outweigh your hard skills this summer. During our 2-week staff training program that takes place at our headquarters in the greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, we will ensure each individual is equipped with the technical skills necessary to lead a successful summer of adventure. As a Trip Leader, you will be working long, action-packed, and sometimes tiring days back to back. While this work is rewarding, fun, and non-traditional in many ways, it will be challenging mentally and physically. Read on to find out more about what we look for in our field staff.
Wilderness Adventures Trip Leaders are enthusiastic about working with students ages 10-18 in outdoor settings. Join a team who is dedicated to sparking wonder, encouraging growth, and building community.
*All Trip Leaders must be 21 by June 1, 2026.
**If you are 18-20 years old and interested in a summer contract, we encourage you to check out roles at Camp New Fork. This is a great stepping stone to becoming a Wilderness Adventures Trip Leader!
Each fall, Wilderness Adventures partners with local schools to launch the year through immersive outdoor education. Extend your summer contract into the fall season, or apply for this late-season role!
*This is a late-summer/early fall seasonal role. 2026 dates are TBD.
