Custom Programming

Tailor-made outdoor experiences for your group, big or small, focused on leadership, community, and the natural world. From schools and camps to nonprofits, friend groups, and families, we design custom adventures anywhere from 5 days to 3 weeks.

Build Your Own Adventure

Our experienced team is ready to work closely with you to design a trip that meets your goals! Whether you’re looking for leadership development, community building, skill progression, or simply time outside together, we can help you build an adventure to remember.

The Process

We’ll work with you each step of the way, from idea conceptualization through departure on the final day of your program.

Tell us about your group, your goals, preferred dates, and any initial visions you have for the experience. Whether you’re dreaming up an outdoor classroom, a leadership-focused expedition, or a meaningful shared experience for your community, this form gives us the foundation we need to begin designing your custom adventure.

Submit Your Request

We build an itinerary tailored to your needs. Our team is able to build custom programs for schools, outing clubs, church groups, and other groups of students and families from all over the country. A custom trip can range from five days to three weeks, and can take place on spring break, fall break, or any other time of the year. We offer a variety of activities – using our operating permits, we can create custom itineraries that include kayaking, backpacking, rafting, rock climbing, and more in some of the most beautiful and iconic locations across the globe.

Pricing will vary based on activities, location and number of students. Keep in mind that a minimum of 6 students is typically required to design a custom adventure!

Let’s work together to help you and your group get outside and Do Something Wild.

Once the itinerary is set, we’ll take care of the logistics. This includes details of the itinerary, staffing, gear prep, and most of the pre-trip communication. We’ll confirm final pricing and participant numbers and make sure your group knows what to expect, what to pack, and how to prepare. Our goal is to make this part feel as clear and manageable as possible.

When it’s time for your adventure, we’ll handle the details on the ground so your group can focus on the experience — being outside, learning new skills, building connections, and spending meaningful time together.

"This trip was so incredible. It challenged me and helped me grow as a person and exposed me to awesome new people and opportunities. Being surrounded by people with different experiences has been so eye opening and taught me so much about the world around me."

"Wilderness Adventures is a first-class organization that is the best in their field. Partnering with Wilderness Adventures has been a privilege and honor for our school. The openness and personalized service that WA brings to our relationship is based on trust and doing what is in the best interest of our students. No detail is overlooked and the interactions are always based on an assumption of mutual goodwill. Working with WA is like working with a good friend and trusted confidant. They treat you like family and their follow-through is second to none."

Principal, Maplewood Richmond Heights School

"Being in the outdoors, out of traditional classroom spaces, is a wonderful way for our students to bond with each other early in their school year. These experiences are so meaningful for them, and a chance to learn new skills as well. Also, this time together provides them with important collaborative skills; like working as a team to put up your tent, for instance, or prioritizing group-think as a safety precaution."

Teacher, Children's Day School

"It was just so perfect, the people were amazing, and I learned how to just to be myself."

FAQs

We work with a wide range of ages! Youngest being 1st graders, and as old as 50+ years.

This fully depends on location, group size, and activities chosen. The more subcontracted activities you choose, the higher the price will be. However, our team is here to make this adventure possible for your group, so we will do what we can to create the best experience at an affordable price.

In order to maintain strong group dynamics, the smallest group size is 6 participants.

The sooner the better! There are a lot of moving pieces to nail down throughout the process from hiring staff to booking campgrounds, to participants filling out paperwork and waivers, so we ask that you reach out to us for initial conversation no later than 6 months in advance of your ideal start date!

Our trip leaders come from a variety of backgrounds, each bringing their own unique skills, experiences, and perspectives to the table. They are each carefully vetted throughout the interview process and must pass background and reference checks. Read more about our trip leaders here!

The permits that we hold allow us to run programming across the U.S. and select international locations. Have a specific destination in mind? Let us know, and we’ll see what we can do!
