Transportation, Storage, and Distribution Intern

This is a Full Time Seasonal Position. Contract dates are May 15 – August 15 and the work schedule is Wednesday – Saturday, 8am – 5pm (36 hours/week).

Job Duties

The Transportation, Storage, and Distribution Intern will have a variety of roles in managing a range of aspects of Wilderness Adventures programming and gear and will report to the Director of Operations.

GEAR INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

  • Assist the Director of Operations in establishing an organized gear system, including storage, maintenance, budgeting, and procurement procedures.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date gear inventory for all equipment across WA brands (WA, MOLA, and Base Camp).
  • Assist in the management of the annual gear budget for WA brands.
  • Oversee and execute all gear maintenance needs throughout the summer, storage, and the process of purchasing and retiring gear.
  • Anticipate gear needs for specific programs and regions, such as MOLA, Base Camp, and custom programs.
  • Handle gear repairs and manage warranties for damaged equipment at the end of the season or during the season when possible.
  • Ensure all gear is current, within expiration dates, and fully functional.
  • Support vehicle fleet management, including equipment and maintenance.
  • Manage emergency devices like PLBs and satellite phones.
  • Oversee and plan for freeze-dried food needs.
  • Manage the WA Rental Program, including inventory tracking and distribution.
  • Any additional duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or any other member of the WA Leadership Team.

GEAR ALLOCATION MANAGEMENT

  • Organize Gear Allocation and decommission events at the start and end of our operating season.
  • Coordinate and execute the setup of Base Camp.
  • Arrange gear training with the MOLA team.
  • Prepare trip duffels for relevant programs.
  • Distribute gear to trip groups, including providing equipment lists for trip leaders.
  • Support trip leaders with gear checks and gear replacement before they are in the field to ensure trip groups have the smoothest possible experience. 
  • Assemble staff boxes for all trip groups.
  • Coordinate the movement of gear from various locations to trip destinations at the beginning of the summer and reverse coordination at the end of the season.
  • Act as the liaison for gear purchases during trips.
  • Assist the Director of Operations in conducting a gear sale at the end of the 2024 season.

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

  • Maintain the grounds of the Jackson Hole office, including lawn care.
  • Order office supplies, lawn care materials, and maintenance supplies.
  • Ground maintenance and facilities support at Base Camp.
  • Coordinate with the Town of Jackson Hole for permit-related matters.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including spreadsheets and reporting tools, database management, typing, and data entry skills.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

 

Requirements & Work Environment

  • Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit; and frequently required to stand and walk.
  • Physical demands related to travel.
  • This job frequently requires lifting or moving heavy gear up to 75 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  • Housing is not provided while working in this position.

 

Salary, Schedule, & Benefits

  • $18/hr
  • Wednesday – Saturday, 8am – 5pm (36 hours/week)
