Skills for the 21st Century
Develop Life Skills on the Adventure of a Lifetime
Wilderness Adventures teaches tangible life skills that are as pertinent for today’s teens as they were when we led our pioneering summer adventure in 1973. Our magical journeys develop interpersonal skills, foster a global perspective and enhance our students’ ability to focus when they return to the classroom.
DEVELOPING INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Our small groups, nurturing staff and thoughtful curricula empower you to take leadership initiative, cooperate to accomplish exciting goals and develop self-confidence. Students, away from the internet, their cell phones and other electronic stimuli, are challenged to rely on communication skills that are no longer a part of their daily lives. You’ll return from your adventure having built a new set of leadership skills, an enhanced sense of what if means to live in a community and having made lifelong friendships with a great group of your peers.
FOSTERING A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE
Whether it’s discovering the ancient redwoods of northern California, sea kayaking with majestic whales in the fjords of southern Alaska or on an immersion into the natural and cultural history of Yellowstone National Park, our adventures expand your sense of place on the planet. Each of our tremendous adventures integrates environmental and cultural stewardship in stunning locations while participating in fun and rewarding activities.
BUILDING ATTENTION SPAN AND FOCUS
As the world’s most experienced and respected outdoor adventure program for teens, we know how to turn the wilderness into a fun and inspirational classroom. Thriving in a setting without electronics enables you to slow down and develop your stores of concentration and focus for the school year ahead. Practicing problem solving and inventive thinking will bring you closer in touch with the natural world while having the best summer of your life. Since 1973, we have dedicated ourselves to connecting young people with their peers, their planet and themselves. Having served over 24,000 students, we’ve been honored with the chance to develop millions of treasured memories over the past 42 years.
