Blue Ridge Adventure

Beginning in beautiful Charlotte, North Carolina, the 14-day Blue Ridge Adventure explores a land of rushing rivers, old growth forests, cascading waterfalls and green, rolling mountains. The sheer diversity of activities and environments in the region make this a great trip for students hoping to catch the wonderful flavor of the Southeast. Students enjoy a ropes course (and culminating zip line) experience, climb with the renowned Nantahala Outdoor Center, enjoy the ride down Sliding Rock Falls, whitewater raft two exciting rivers and try their skills at inflatable kayaking on the fabled Nantahala River. Two of the most rewarding parts of the journey are the overnight backpacking trip in the Pisgah National Forest and a culminating ascent up Mt. Mitchell – the country’s highest point east of the Mississippi River.

Cape Cod Bike Adventure

Departing from colonial Boston, Massachusetts, the 14-day Cape Cod Bike Adventure pedals the most tranquil shores of Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket Island and, of course, Cape Cod. Each night, students will sleep on secluded, beach-side campsites, telling stories around crackling campfires and falling asleep to the humming of the Atlantic waves. Along their journey, the group will take time off the bikes to take part in surfing lessons in the warm waters of the Cape, as well as participate in a special whale watching expedition – bringing a substantive marine biology component to the experience. Of course, throughout the trip, the journey will be steeped in maritime history and mythology – an educational facet that will culminate in Boston with an exploration of Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market.

Adirondack Explorer Adventure

Specifically designed for 6th grade students, the 14-day Adirondack Explorer Adventure begins and culminates in accessible Albany, New York. The trip embarks on an integrated adventure through the most spectacular environments in both Vermont and upstate New York. During their time together, the group will explore Lake George, whitewater raft the exiting Hudson River Gorge, enjoy the wonders of Adirondack Park, experience the tranquility of Lake Placid and adventure onto Lake Champlain and into the Green Mountains. Because the trip is tailored to inspire a lifelong love of the outdoors in the youngest Wilderness Ventures students, the activities and environments are segmented into obtainable days that will foster wanderlust and passion for the environment. For many students, the highlight will be an overnight camping trip on the shores of beautiful Lake Champlain; the group will paddle-out to a secluded lakeside campsite, cook dinner and camp near the shore, then paddle back the next morning – thrilled by an authentic night spent in the wilderness.

Each of these marvelous, Eastern adventure trips build on the fundamentals and experience that have made all Wilderness Ventures trips so popular and successful since 1973.
