Learn to rock climb at the famous Smith Rock State Park. Top off your adventure sea kayaking with whales in the San Juan Islands.
Our programs offer a wide variety of activity options. Explore the activities specific to this program below.
Landing at the airport in Seattle, you’ll gather your bags and meet as a group for the first time! From the airport, you and your group will take the short and scenic drive to your first campsite at Bayview State Park. That first night is always a special one. You will set up your tent for the first time, play games to get to know the other members of your group, and learn about the adventures to come. With a warm fire at hand, you’ll get a good night’s rest to prepare for the days of adventure to come.
You will wake up on your second day and begin the journey to Smith Rock State Park located in the high desert of central Oregon. Known as the birthplace of US sport climbing, this is the perfect place for your 4-day rock climbing adventure. Led by a team of professional rock climbers, you will progress from the basics of knots and learning how to belay, to climbing multi-pitch routes with your trip mates!
After 4 full days of rock climbing, you will head to the Three Sisters Wilderness for a day hike. This beautiful and pristine area is free of crowds and will allow you to soak in the beauty of the wild.
You will trade in your harnesses, ropes, and hiking shoes for lifejackets, and paddles!
One of the most exciting ways to explore the pacific northwest, is on the river. You will head to the Deschutes River for a 4 day river adventure. With section of whitewater that will make your heart race and sections of calm water that invite you to swim and bask in the sunshine, this is a trip you won’t forget! Traveling by boat allows us to take plenty of gear to make amazing meals and set-up incredible campsites each night on the riverbank. A highlight of WA trips, you’ll love this whitewater adventure.
Next, you will board a ferry that will take you into the far reaches of the Puget Sound. Your next stop: the small island chain of the San Juan Islands. These islands, which are actually the summits of an ancient mountain range, are location to some of the most exceptional sea kayaking in the world. Home to an abundant amount of aquatic wildlife including Orca whales, and other wildlife such as bald eagles, deer, and sea lions, the San Juan Islands are sure to impress. Here, you’ll paddle your way through the string of islands, camping somewhere new each night. After your backcountry adventure, you will board a ferry yet again to the calm and scenic Lopez Island to explore the countryside by bike for the day.
You will take your last ferry to the beautiful waterfront city of Anacortes on Fidalgo Island and then make your way back to Seattle. It’ll be time to clean up gear and prepare for the traditional Wilderness Adventures end-of-summer-banquet. The next day, it will be time to head back to the Seattle airport and board your plane – taking your lifelong friendships and new outdoor skillset with you.
There's just a special thing about these trips that bonds everyone together and a great way to see the world.
