William “Will” Kenan
Will Kenan, or as most people call him, “Kenan”, is from Birmingham Alabama. He did his undergrad in Tuscaloosa (Roll Tide!) before completing his Master’s in Biomedical and Health Sciences from UAB. Along the way, Will learned that he loves working with young people and helping others, leading to his decision to become a Pediatrician.
Growing up, Will played football and ran track as his team captain. He also served as Key Club president where he helped build two houses for Habitat for Humanity (one with the Jimmy Carter work project where he met the former President Carter). Between these activities, Will went on some cool family vacations to Maine, the Grand Canyon, and even sailed/scuba dove his way through the British Virgin Islands. In college, he served as philanthropy chair and Chaplin of his fraternity where he raised over $40,000 for St. Jude and Children’s Hospital. As class president of the Master’s in Biomedical and Health Sciences program, Will prided himself as being a bridge between his classmates and the administration. Will loves to do anything outdoors and is currently training for a half marathon benefiting Children’s Hospital.
Will is always thinking about how to improve, not only ourselves, but the planet through sustainable living, and hopes to share these passions with his WA students this summer. He is grateful for the opportunity to serve as trip leader and for the adventures to come.
